Predicting the future is hard. Well, technically impossible. We can predict some trends though with relative certainty (barring, of course, some kind of near extinction event).
One such trend is data processing. As humanity advances, more and more data is processed (and even more is created). This seems to be on an exponential scale. It’s quite exciting, but also quite daunting. Overwhelming even. For while we have created computers to do the heavy lifting, our brains are still very much immersed in this onslaught of data.
To give credit where credit is due, our brains are running 2020 software on 200,000 year old hardware. The latest iOS only works on iPhones created in the last five years (which is still impressive backwards compatibility). Our brains, although designed for the Savana, are more or less coping with processing billions of bits of data that modern society demands. Quite impressive really.
But cracks are beginning to form. Keeping up with exponential growth was always going to be temporary. The only way we have a chance of doing it long-term is thorough technology; melding our minds to machines and upgrading our brain’s hardware.
Many companies are fervently working towards this, but for now the technology is still in its infancy. What we need is a stop-gap in the interim. That’s why I’m working on Reflect.
Reflect is your brain’s best friend. Your ally in the data deluge. Inside of it you can build a copy of your brain. A copy as scalable as it is infallible. And then your brain can finally have what it has wanted for years; a chance.
